Job Description:

Responsible for providing support to the financial aid staff and interacting with offices external to financial aid.

Job Duties:

Reporting to the Verification Supervisor of Financial Aid and Scholarships, the Verification Specialist is primarily responsible for analyzing data to complete the federal verification process for financial aid applicants. This work serves as the foundation for the proper awarding and disbursement of financial aid to students.

The Verification Specialist is responsible for the following: timely and accurate data analysis and entry of large volumes of financial and other documents, identifying conflicting information among these documents, notifying students about how to resolve conflicting information, and completing the verification process in accordance with complex Department of Education and Internal Revenue Service regulations. In addition, the verification specialist is tasked with keeping abreast of all pertinent federal verification and IRS rules as well as making recommendations as necessary to ensure efficient, effective, and compliant processing operations.

Additional Information to Applicants:

  • Occasional overnight travel and work beyond normal 8-5 business hours may be required.
  • This is a 12-month renewable project staff position.
