Our Renewal practice investigates problems in the built environment and provides evidence-based solutions founded on rigorous science and physics. We assist property managers, building owners, design professionals, contractors, manufacturers, with a wide range of architectural and engineering issues.

The Role

We have an immediate opportunity for a Technical Architect with experience or interest in investigating what went wrong from an architectural standpoint, to assist clients in quickly restoring the intended function of their existing building. You will get the opportunity to apply your strong technical background to existing buildings with an inquisitive personality and investigative mind! You enjoy looking into and discovering what went wrong to help develop solutions to the client's problems.

This individual will independently execute architectural assessments of existing buildings, identify and design remedial repairs for deficient conditions. They will assess building code deficiencies, building envelope defects, and cause and origin analysis. The candidate will be required to document and communicate findings in a range of architectural deliverables. The candidate will be required to provide direction to, and review the work product of, entry-level staff; coordinate with other project managers on interdisciplinary efforts; support business development efforts, and develop and maintain client relationships.

Responsibilities

  • You will work with existing buildings, waterproofing, building envelope, and other architectural elements.
  • You get excited about discovering what went wrong from an Architectural standpoint, and, using your investigative mind, proposing ways to fix the problem.
  • Your day-to-day will consist of technical detailing; review, analysis, and application of building codes and industry standards; cause and origin assessments; testing protocols; and assessment of existing building problems, big and small.
  • You will lead a team of other design team members to help mentor and guide them.


Requirements
  • Degree in Architecture or Architectural Engineering.
  • Professional Architect License in California.
  • 8 to 15 years of Architecture experience.
  • Look at existing buildings, waterproofing/envelope projects with an investigative and inquisitive personality.
  • Proficient in Sketchup, Bluebeam Studio, Revit.


Compensation
The rate for this position generally is$140,000-$170,000.This range is a good faith estimate provided pursuant to the California Pay Transparency Law. It is based on what a successful California applicant might be paid and assumes that the successful candidate will be in California or perform the position from California. Similar positions located outside of California will not necessarily receive the same compensation.Actual pay rates may vary from the range, as permitted byCaliforniaEqual Pay Transparency Law. Compensation offers will be based on various factors, including operational needs, individual education, qualifications and experience, work location and comparison to employee already in the role, as well as other considerations permitted by law. A potential new employee's pay history will not be used in compensation decisions.
