About the Role

  • Review (Review the requirements, as provided, to make sure they are understandable.)
  • Implement (Make changes to the appropriate equipment, or configurations, of equipment and application features and functions to realize the prescribed behavior, as per the requirements.)
  • Test (Test the function and flow of the changes to make sure that all of the requirements have been satisfied, and that no conflicts have been introduced.)
  • Support (Provide support for answering questions and giving direction to how the changes meet the requirements.)
  • Improve (Provide feedback on the quality of requirements, in terms of completeness, understanding, and testability.)
  • Performance/Impact Analysis (Make an assessment on the performance, or other impact the requirement may have on existing environments and the customers affected by the change. Report any risky changes, or changes that would have significant change in behavior, performance, resource utilization, or any other significant factor.)
What the Candidate Will Do
  • Creates and maintains all databases required for development, testing, education and production usage.
  • Performs the capacity planning required to create and maintain the databases. Performs ongoing tuning of the database instances.
  • Install new versions of the Oracle RDBMS and its tools and any other tools that access the Oracle database.
  • Maintain and support Oracle Exadata, Oracle GoldenGate, Oracle Enterprise Manager.
  • Plans and implements backup and recovery of the Oracle databases.
  • Evaluates releases of Oracle and its tools, and third-party products to ensure that the site is running the products that are most appropriate.
  • Provides technical support to application development teams.
  • Troubleshoots with problems regarding the databases, applications and development tools.
  • SQLServer DBA experience.
  • Engineering of DBA-related solutions for various project and operational needs.
  • Install new, clone and tune existing Oracle databases. Evaluate and recommend system resources required such as hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
  • Install and configure systems such as supports GIS infrastructure applications or Asset Management applications.
  • Develop, measure, maintain and document Oracle database related configurations and processes.
  • Contribute to and maintain system standards. Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for database administration tasks. Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale.
  • Install, upgrade and maintain Oracle GoldenGate.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering or related field to perform job duties as a Database Administrator
Preferred Qualifications
  • Six years as an experienced DBA
  • Good experience in maintaining and supporting Oracle Exadata.
  • Oracle In-Memeory and Container databases knowledge is a plus.
  • SQLServer DBA knowledge is a plus.
  • Time management, organizational skills (Handles multiple tasks simultaneously. Prioritizes and organizes assignments to make efficient use of time with significant attention to detail.)
  • Sense of urgency (Possesses the attitude and determination to stay focused on results and deadlines until the task or project is completed.)

  • Problem solving (The ability to decompose a problem into manageable components, apply good judgment and decision making in approaches to solving the problem, consider alternate outcomes, responsibilities, and circumstances, and propose viable and effective solutions to overcome the problem.)
  • Decision-Making (The ability to make sound, consistent, informed decisions regarding how to proceed in any conceivable situation.)
  • Troubleshooting (The ability to calmly and effectively review and identify circumstances and evidence of a problem, apply sound troubleshooting practices to diagnose to the root cause of the problem.)
  • Customer Service (Exhibit customer service excellence to the customer at all times. Assuming positive intent, understanding and emphasizing with the customers’ frustrations. Work requests in a timely manner and keep good communication with customers.
