We are Pharmaceutical Technology and Development (PT&D), and we work across the entire value chain, designing and delivering active ingredients, formulations, and devices required to support new medicines. We have an exciting opportunity for a Scientist/ Senior Scientist in our microbiology team in Inhalation Product Development team at our Durham, NC site. This role will be working on developing Durham site microbiological control program including overseeing outside contractor's work, owning site cross-contamination strategy and the SME.

Accountabilities:
As a Sr. Scientist, you will implement and develop site microbiological procedures, oversee all microbiological activities performed by outside contractors, work independently to drive micro related activities, use phase appropriate risk assessment tools and procedures, deliver financial benefits to AZ through continuous improvement activities with CROs, and much more! You will also be the site SME for all microbiological questions and site representative for global microbiology network including site SME for regulatory inspection/audits.

Essential Skills/Experience:
- Bachelors in science or related field.
- 5+yr of relevant experience with Bachelor's
- Master's in science or related field
- 3+yrs of relevant experience with Masters

Desirable Skills/Experience:
- Good knowledge of microbiological principles and experience working in a regulated industry, pharmaceutical experience
- Previous experience with building microbiology team
- Experience of the microbiological aspects of ISO classified captive zones.
- Have a thorough understanding of principles, applications and management of SHE and cGMP.
