The University of Miami Health System at Doral has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Speech Pathologist 1 with a hire date of June 2024. The Speech Pathologist 1 assesses and treats individuals referred with speech, language, voice, and/or swallowing disorders and impairments. The incumbent takes part in a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with physicians, other clinical providers, and family members to provide evidence-based treatment approaches.
The University of Miami Health System will soon open the second phase to our state-of-the-art facility in Downtown Doral that serves as a western hub for our distinguished regional network of ambulatory services. This 160,000 square foot expansion will continue to bring world-class academic medicine, cutting-edge technology, and innovative treatment options to the rapidly growing Doral community. UHealth at Doral will have services through the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, and the Desai Sethi Urology Institute, as well as specialties such as cardiology, endocrinology, otolaryngology, gastroenterology, dermatology, and more. The expansion will provide residents with innovative, specialized medical services in the heart of their community. Once complete, UHealth at Doral will have 8 operating rooms, 3 endoscopy procedure rooms, 33 cancer treatment bays, over 60 multidisciplinary exam rooms, and supporting ancillary services like imaging, lab, and respiratory therapy. UHealth at Doral will open in September, 2024.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Administers diagnostic assessments to individuals with speech, language, voice, and/or swallowing disorders and impairments.
2. Develops treatment plans that utilize appropriate intervention approaches, strategies, and materials.
3. Establishes treatment priorities that include advising, educating, and counseling.
4. Collaborates in a multidisciplinary team, including physicians, other clinical providers, and family members in the development and revision of treatment recommendations.
5. Maintains current knowledge of new technologies and approaches in the field.
6. Participates in ongoing continuing education and research opportunities within or outside the department.
7. Provides supervision to graduate students and clinical fellows.
8. Provides culturally responsive services with the understanding that growth in cultural competence is a lifelong journey.
9. Utilizes electronic medical record and/or other documentation tools to detail patient interactions.
10. Provides direct patient care interaction/encounters via approved telehealth platforms.
11. Maintains confidentiality of all patient information according to federal and state guidelines and regulations.
12. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Master's Degree in relevant field
Certification and Licensing:
Certification in relevant specialty or field
Experience:
Completion of clinical fellowship and/or 1 year of relevant experience
