Meet the team:

The R&D Mechanical Engineering Characterization Team is responsible for the feasibility and development of next-generation products at Dexcom. We're seeking an engineer who can use cross functional mechanical and material science skillsets to characterize key attributes of our glucose sensing architecture. Positioned within the Mechanical Engineering team, this is a high visibility, high impact role in achieving Dexcom's product performance and reliability goals through delivering functional excellence in the research, development, and characterization of enabling technologies/designs & their integration to a product ecosystem.

Where you come in:

  • You will design and develop test methods, fixtures and equipment to measure device performance attributes.
  • You will develop test methods related to sensor mechanical properties and interactions with other components
  • You will characterize the mechanical properties of our sensor to understand their role and performance within our product system.
  • You will conduct evaluations of products, processes, or new technologies to isolate specific product outcomes through experimental builds, testing and analysis.
  • You will create and execute test plans to define overall system level performance.
  • You will document your findings and present them to cross functional team members.
  • You will develop tests, test plans and equipment to troubleshoot complex problems to isolate functional performance issues.

What makes you successful:
  • You have good problem solving skills. You can break down complex problems in order to understand key factors and correlations.
  • You have the ability to develop equipment with CAD (Solidworks or Onshape preferred).
  • You have good analytical skills using tools such as JMP and Matlab.
  • You have familiarity with Six Sigma methodology and tools such as DOE's and capability analyses.
  • You have the ability to utilize statistical analyses to make data based conclusions.
  • You have experience handling and manipulating small components/devices (< 1mm)
  • You have experience in biomechanics or products interfacing with living tissue.

Experience and Education Requirements:
  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline, and a minimum of 5-8 years related experience or Master's degree and 2-5 years equivalent industry experience or a PhD and 0-2 years experience.
