**Job Title:** Senior Cloud Data and Systems Engineer

**Department:** Information Technology

**Reports To:** IT Director

**Job Summary:**

The Senior Cloud Data and Systems Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the organization's cloud computing strategy, including cloud adoption plans, cloud application design, and cloud management and monitoring. The role encompasses data engineering, cloud architecture, and systems administration with a strong emphasis on networking, data governance, data modeling, and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes. The candidate will possess advanced skills in Python, SQL, PowerShell, and in depth knowledge of AWS or GCP.

**Key Responsibilities:**
- **Cloud Architecture & Strategy:**
- Design and implement scalable, secure cloud architecture solutions.
- Optimize cloud presence by analyzing and revising compute, storage, and security configurations.
- Develop and maintain a cloud strategy in alignment with business goals.

- **Data Engineering:**
- Design and construct large-scale data processing systems.
- Ensure data governance and compliance with data quality standards.
- Develop complex ETL processes for data lakes and data warehousing solutions.

- **Systems Administration:**
- Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure.
- Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, application software, and system management tools.
- Ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability.

- **Networking:**
- Maintain a secure transfer of data to multiple locations via internal and external networks.
- Work with IT security to ensure network security best practices are implemented and maintained.

- **Programming/Scripting:**
- Develop automation scripts using Python, PowerShell to streamline system updates and deployments.
- Write advanced SQL queries for database management and data retrieval tasks.
- Utilize AWS Glue / AWS Data Pipeline for data cataloging and ETL jobs.

- **Team Collaboration & Leadership:**
- Collaborate with IT team members to enhance system performance.
- Provide guidance to junior engineers and team members.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends to apply in system improvements.

**Qualifications:**
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a cloud engineering role with a focus on data systems.
- Strong experience with cloud service providers, particularly AWS.
- Proficient in Python, SQL, PowerShell scripting.
- Extensive experience with AWS Glue and other AWS data services.
- Knowledge of networking protocols and security configurations.
- Experience in developing ETL processes and familiarity with data modeling principles.
- Strong understanding of system administration in a cloud environment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills

(+ DevOps is a plus, Networking background is a plus, security certifications are a plus)

**Certifications (Preferred):**
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect
- AWS Certified DevOps Engineer
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or equivalent

**Work Environment:**

Full time 40hrs

This position requires the individual to be available for on-call work outside of normal business hours as needed.
