Job Description
Position Summary:

The Senior Associate Director develops and implements strategies for increasing alumnae giving with a targeted focus on the classes of 2007 through 2024. This is an important cohort in building the donor pipeline. This position will lead Wellesley's work in identifying, recruiting and managing The Wellesley Fund class representative volunteers. In addition to volunteer management of these classes, they will create and implement successful acquisition, renewal and retention strategies for this cohort.

The Senior Associate Director works closely student facing departments to identify and engage with student leaders from all classes to build a culture of philanthropic understanding as it relates to their alumnae journey. A collaborative relationship with the Wellesley College Alumnae Association to co- create student engagement activities that will foster their connection to the alumnae community.

Position Responsibility:

  • Identifies, recruits, trains, and supports The Wellesley Fund class representatives and assistant representatives.
  • Develops and implements strategies for increasing alumnae giving and participation in the classes of 2007-2024
  • Solicits The Wellesley Fund class representatives, assistant representatives and Durant class chairs for their annual gift to The Wellesley Fund.
  • Fosters relationships with key student facing colleagues, including class deans, cultural advisers, residential life staff, Dean of Students staff and athletic coaches in partnership to create a culture of philanthropy for today's student body.
  • Builds and recruits members for the Student Philanthropy Ambassadors program.
  • Mentors and supervises an Assistant Director of The Wellesley Fund.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Reporting to the Senior Director of Annual Giving Programs, they supervise an Assistant Director of The Wellesley Fund.
Basic Qualifications:
  • A bachelor's degree and valid driver's license.
  • 5 - 7 years of fundraising experience, including successful solicitations, ideally within higher education.
  • 3 - 5 years of volunteer recruitment, training and management.
Skills and Abilities
  • Must be highly organized and detailed oriented.
  • Proven track record of success as a fundraiser.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to analyze annual giving data to inform strategy.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, an ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Good judgement and the ability to handle sensitive/confidential information with discretion.
  • Commitment to the mission and goals of Wellesley College
  • An ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse environment
  • Familiarity with standard fundraising technology, including a high comfort-level using technology to communicate and share information
