Job duties:
- Ensure that all employees, including employees of all subcontractors comply with Project Site Safety Rules and Regulations.
- Ensure that the subcontractor's reports are completed according to the rules and regulations stated in the Contractor's Safety and Health Plan and according to the requirements of the applicable regulatory agencies.
- Correct any unsafe conditions and unsafe practices, including suspending work until the unsafe condition or practice is corrected and meets all safety requirements.
- Implements company policies and procedures surrounding employee safety and accident prevention.
- Ensures that fall protection programs are be adhered to
- Daily jobsite safety inspections
- Completes all accident investigations and reporting, recording keeping, conducting tool box safety meetings
- Monitors exposure for toxic gasses and contaminants
- OSHA compliance and inspections
- Ensures that employees, subcontractors and the like comply with any safety-related contract requirements
- Perform safety training orientations for employees and visitors
- Other duties as assigned
Position requirements: Bachelor's degree in industrial hygiene, safety management, environmental science, occupational health, basic or applied science or any other related field preferred.
At least five (5) years of direct safety experience in the construction industry.
Knowledge of OSHA, DOSH, ANSI, NFPA, EPA and Workers Compensation regulations.
Able to perform duties independently.
Ability to deal with situations involving sensitive and confidential company issues.
Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to communicate with all levels. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from employees, customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, job site personnel, regulatory agencies and/or public groups.
Highly self-motivated and directed with strong attention to detail.
Able to organize work, engage in variety of tasks simultaneously and consistently meet deadlines.
Exercise creative, innovative and effective problem solving.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Will be required to work in a heavy construction job site where there would be loud noises, mud and dirt and large construction equipment. Physical requirements would require EHS Manager to climb stairs, ladders, some job sites require walking in underground tunnels and walking on irregular ground. The ability to stand for a prolonged period of time.
