Job Description Summary
The Research Associate will conduct research projects/studies by developing project objectives, determining appropriate procedures, selecting statistical analyses to be employed, interviewing research subjects, overseeing project progress, producing reports detailing the results, and working with the research team to ensure project tasks are completed in a timely manner.

Job Description

The Research Associate will:

  • Interviews research subjects and collects clinical data and medical record information.
  • Plans execution of the study, determining appropriate research methodology and statistical procedures to be utilized.
  • Develops research objectives and writes research proposals.
  • Prepares technical reports and articles detailing research results. Co-authors publications explaining research projects.
  • Performs and interprets complex statistical analysis of resulting data in order to solve technical problems.
  • Develops, uses and maintains relevant computer software and hardware to meet the specifications necessary for managing project data including statistical analysis. Maintains data files necessary to support the objectives of studies.
  • Performs all other duties that may be assigned in the best interest of the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab.

Reporting Relationships
  • Reports directly to Lab Manager, Project Manager, Research Scientist, or Project Director

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
  • Work requires a professional level of knowledge in a behavioral or social science equivalent to that which is typically acquired through the completion of a Master's Program.
  • Three to six months experience in a clinical setting which requires patient contact as an interviewer and/or therapist.
  • A good working knowledge of research methodology and statistical analysis and procedures is required.
  • A relatively high level of analytical ability.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills to participate as a member of a research team, exchange ideas, work closely with numerous professional organizations and facilities, and to plan and coordinate project completions.
  • Communication skills required for writing and presenting detailed explanatory results.

Working Conditions
  • Normal office environment with little or no exposure to dust or extreme temperature.
