The RN Float position will support the Main Campus, Emergency Department and 11th Floor Adult Inpatient Unit. This role is Full Time, 36 hours per week, benefits eligible
The Registered Professional Nurse maintains the standards of professional nursing practice, and demonstrates competence for patient care through the utilization of the nursing process. The process includes continuous assessing, diagnosing, planning, implementing and evaluating the patient care and patient education. The Registered Nurse directs and guides ancillary personnel while maintaining standards of nursing practice.
Emergency Department
Mass Eye and Ear Emergency Department: A 24/7 ED caring for Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology emergencies. The RN staff work collaboratively with interns, residents, fellows and attending physicians. Excellent observational skills and the ability to set priorities. Ability to function under stress with good interpersonal and communication skills.
11th Floor, Adult Inpatient
Mass Eye and Ear Adult Inpatient Unit: A 24/7 adult unit providing comprehensive care to patients with surgical and/or medical conditions of the eyes, ears, nose and throat. The RN on the adult unit is a key member of the multidisciplinary care team. Has the ability to prioritize and manage the care of complex patients with solid critical thinking skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required. An intermediate care unit exists within this adult unit that provides a higher level of care to patients requiring close hemodynamic and/or neurologic care.
