POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for performing molding machine set ups and authorized process changes for scheduled jobs and other assigned tasks to achieve maximum production of good parts at the lowest cost per company goals.

FUNCTIONS:

Manufacturing:

Organizes and plans activities on assigned shifts to maximize results.

Performs color changes, material changes, system change overs, system start-up and shut down processes per company procedures, standards and customer job specifications.

May perform or assist in performing mold change overs.

Gather data and identify route causes for critical instances arising on assigned shifts.

Follows standard escalation procedures on assigned shifts when an issue can not be identified and solved in a timely manner Coordinates per company procedures with other departments in a timely manner to minimize downtime for critical instances arising on assigned shifts.

Task assigned resources in compliance with all applicable company procedures, work instructions and policies. Communicates immediately with the Shift Supervisor and Team leader on any issues with assigned resources.

Ensures cell logs are complete and accurate per company procedures including work performed by other departments on assigned shifts.

Maintains a well organized and clean manufacturing floor complying with all 5 S procedures. Performs assigned 5 S tasks including cleaning and inspection of the equipment and facility.

Follow company procedures for use and inventory control of spare parts used for repairs on assigned shifts.

Follows all manufacturing policies and procedures when performing duties. Ensures assigned resources follow procedures

Ensures proper safety rules, procedures and required equipment are used on assigned shifts.

Communicates between shifts to ensure a smooth shift transition.

Quality

Performs authorized processes changes to ensure that product conforms to specifications for customer jobs. Ensures all process changes and settings are logged in. Ensures issues that can not be solved in a timely manner are escalated to other resources per company procedures.

Perform assigned WIP quality inspections and maintains records including logging critical quality issues for assigned shift and separation of non-conforming materials.

Ensures assigned resources in the room follow and comply with quality procedures and inspections per the company quality plan.

Coordinates quality tasks performed by the QC department per the quality plan for assigned shifts including gathering of part samples and the separation of non-conforming material as required.

Preventative Maintenance, equipment, and system uptime.

Performs all assigned preventative maintenance tasks in accordance with PM schedules. Tasks the assigned certified resources to perform PM tasks per company procedures.

Ensures any downtime is properly logged in with a route cause and corrective action.

May be required to coordinate PM tasks done by other departments for assigned shifts.

Performs mold cleaning in accordance with system work instructions.

Order Management

Using job schedules and priority sheets, performs order initiation and termination processes for assigned shifts including data entry into Mattec or cell control systems, molding line clearance, and order packet verification.

Oversees and performs job control procedures and material handling tasks for assigned shifts including cavity counts, box handling, box labels, color bin movement and scrap handling / recording. Suspends orders and notifies appropriate departments of reasons.

Continuous Improvement

Participate on improvement teams and perform assigned tasks for critical instance issues or improvement projects.

Originate, gather and communicate ideas to improve output or lower costs for assigned department.

As assigned, prepare or edit; procedures, check lists, meeting notes, data tables, data graphs and team presentations.

Training

May assist in training of other personnel or departments as assigned.

Ensure assigned resources are trained and certified before performing duties requiring certification.

Performs general housekeeping duties including but not limited to sweeping and trash removal. Maintains a neat and orderly work area, keeping walkways and aisles clear.
