Payroll Specialist

Ledgent Finance and Accounting has a prominent Business Services partner located in St Paul needing to permanently add to their payroll team!

This position offers

• $52k-$57k/yr
• M-F 8am-5pm
• Direct Hire

Responsibilities:

* Maintenance and audit payroll input/output of employee records
* Upload non-exempt and hourly employee hours from automated timekeeping system
* Processing, balancing, transmitting, and receiving payrolls to and from payroll service
* Calculating and creating out-of-sequence pay entries, retro pay, and adjustments
* Assist with various payroll, tax, and benefit reconciliations and audits
* Analyze and set up accurate payroll withholding for federal, state, and local taxes
* Solid understanding of payroll tax regulations and accounting
* Ability to create and modify reports using Reporting Tool to meet business needs
* Create reports in various formats as required; i.e., Excel, csv, pdf, html
* Provide excellent customer service to employees and management
* Follow prescribed procedures and workflow
* Payroll related training and/or workshops
* Wage garnishment processing a plus
* Shared services environment a plus
* Federal, state and local compensation and tax compliance

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Accounting or Business Administration from 2 year college or technical school
• 1-3 years related payroll processing experience
• Ability and knack for working with numerical data
• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
• Ability to effectively manage time, meet deadlines and work under pressure
• Flexible and adaptable to change
