We are currently seeking an intern to join our growing Federal Planning team for Summer 2024 - The positions are located in Colorado Springs, CO / Huntsville, AL / New Orleans, LA. The Planner Intern will collect, assimilate, and develop data related to mission requirements, facilities and land use planning, sustainability and resiliency planning, and long-range development planning for military and other federal clients worldwide. The qualified candidate will also support project execution by assisting with data analysis, tabulations, and narrative development; preparing conceptual and schematic diagrams; and assembling project reports and deliverables. Limited travel may be required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • The Planner Intern position requires a degree or pursuit of a degree in planning or related field. Candidates possessing other applicable professional training and/or certifications may substitute for planning experience.
  • This position may require occasional travel. Must maintain a current, valid driver's license (REAL ID, where required).
  • Access to federal installations or other secure facilities may require security badges. The ability to pass a security background investigation, with no felony convictions, is required.
  • Must be able to work a minimum of 20 hours per week.
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
  • Knowledge of the philosophies, principles, practices & techniques of planning.
  • Knowledge of principles, methodology, practices of research and data collection.
  • Knowledge of planning disciplines such as urban design, environmental planning, military planning, economic development, or land use.
  • Solid understanding of GIS use, principles, data standards and projections.
  • Effective communication and strong technical writing, proofing / editing skills are critical.
  • Proficiency in relevant software such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and Adobe Acrobat. Advanced knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator preferred.
  • Creative problem-solving skills to gather relevant information to solve less well-defined planning problems.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and be comfortable working within a team environment.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and meet firm deadlines.

Additional Information

Many factors are considered when determining compensation at Pond, including scope and level of position, geographic location, candidate skill, knowledge and experience. Starting base pay may vary depending on these factors. We anticipate filling this position as a Military Planner Intern with a salary range of $16.00 - $21.30 .
