Under the direction of the evening and chemistry managers, performs a wide variety of manual and automated laboratory procedures utilizing independent judgment and maintaining responsibility for assigned duties. Must be familiar with all phases of the chemistry and hematology laboratory to include urinalysis and urine microscopy. Must be computer literate and have a basic understanding of computer interfaces. Must also be familiar with specimen processing protocols for both inpatient and outpatient procedures.
Qualifications
Completionof an Associates Degree program in laboratory medicine or medical laboratorytechnology OR Bachelor's degree in medical technology, clinical laboratoryscience of chemical, physician or biological science OR Education and trainingequivalent to an associates degree in laboratory science or medical laboratorytechnology: 60 semester hours including either 24 semester hours of medicaltechnology courses or 24 semester hours of science courses (6 hours ofchemistry, 6 hours of biology, and 12 hours in chemistry, biology or medicaltechnology or any combination) AND either completion of an approved/accreditedclinical laboratory program or at least three months of documented laboratorytraining in each specialty employee will work. On or before 2/28/92, qualified or could have qualified as atechnologist under CFR 493.1433 laboratory regulations published March 14, 1990(55 FR 9538)
MT(ASCP), BB(ASCP), H(ASCP), C(ASCP), M(ASCP) or equivalentrequired unless qualified under CFR 493.1433
