What You Will Do

Job Summary:

As a member of Manufacturing Operations Leadership Team, the Manufacturing Excellence Coordinator partners with Factory Leadership and various department teams to continually develop manufacturing processes/practices and improve business results in a sustainable manner. This role is responsible for project management, continuous improvement, initiating improvement activities, coordinating data analysis, trainings, documentation management, planning and tracking implementation of improvement projects and activities.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Drive a cultural change to maintain continuous improvement efforts beyond process & project activities and to a lean way of working.
  • Contribute to the improvement of the whole operations value stream by participating in and driving continuous improvement / problem solving activities.
  • Drive a high-performance culture in the site through visible servant leadership, promotions, and other forms of communication.
  • Secure employee commitment for proactive change management.
  • Review existing processes, identify opportunities for process improvement to ensure the development and execution of the plant's zero loss journey focused on mitigating all types of losses at the site.
  • Partner with the plant leadership team to conduct the site loss analysis and lead the development and execution of the plant master plan; implement systems and tools to address site key losses.
  • Collaborate with other sites Manufacturing Excellence Teams as well as Central Manufacturing Excellence Team to investigate and deploy the latest continuous improvement tools and digital strategies at the factory.
  • Evaluate and prioritize potential improvements based on gains and required effort.
  • Regularly monitor the implementation of solutions to achieve objectives and expected benefits.
  • Teach, lead, and coach cross-functional teams on continuous improvement principles, tools and behaviors.
  • Ensure that continuous improvement training materials and programs are current, accurate, and effective.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Management or related discipline and 3+ years of relevant work experience or Associate's degree in Management or related discipline and 5+ years of relevant work experience or High school diploma / GED and 7+ years of relevant work experience.
  • 1+ years related supervisory experience
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
Knowledge of:
  • Project management
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, & PowerPoint) and Microsoft Teams
  • Basic mathematic proficiency

  • Travel domestically/internationally up to 5% of the time
Preferred Qualifications:

Education and Experience:
  • 3+ years related supervisory experience
  • Lean/Six Sigma Certification
  • Experience in the Tobacco industry and/or union environment

Work Environment and Physical Demand

  • Requires moderate physical effort. Occasionally lifts or moves moderate to heavy weight objects (10 - 50 lbs)
  • Reach and grasp objects/hand eye coordination
  • Stoop, bend, kneel, crouch or crawl
  • Stand for prolonged periods
  • Requires prolonged machine operation including computer and keyboard equipment
  • Use of manual dexterity and fine motor skills
  • Identify and distinguish color and shades of color
  • Work with equipment or perform procedures where carelessness may result in injury
  • Risk for occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens
  • Experience exposure to uncomfortable work environment due to extreme temperature, noise level, and other conditions including second-hand smoke and/or vape
