Maintenance Manager

Salary: $110,000.00 USD Annually - $130,000.00 USD Annually
Description: Our food manufacturing client is currently seeking a Maintenance Manager for their plant in NY. Main responsibilities include overseeing the maintenance & reliability programs, processes, and systems to ensure that plant performance exceeds company-wide expectations. For this position, you will report directly to the Plant Engineering Manager. They are looking for someone who has experience with ammonia refrigeration systems as well as steam boilers. Food experience his highly preferred and this is a dairy company so if you have dairy experience it will be a very good fit!

Relocation assistance is available for candidates outside of a commutable distance. This is a full time direct hire position.


This job will have the following responsibilities:

• Lead the maintenance function for the plant to assure adequate cost-effective utilities and power are provided along with the quality and quantity of maintenance support required to meet production needs.
• Prepare and monitor the department budget, direct the purchasing of spare parts and determine minimum inventory levels, initiates work orders, and reviews general plant equipment repairs
• Participate in capital projects by assisting with project development, specifying controls and equipment, directing installation, and monitoring start-up, troubleshooting, and maintenance training for new systems

• Drive core people development processes within the Maintenance department, such as hiring and promoting for success, technical/functional training, leadership development, and performance management
• Find opportunities before they become a problem, focusing on root cause analysis and preventative actions
• Establish policies for shift changeovers and preventive maintenance according to production schedules, and ensure compliance with laws and company policies.
  
• Responsible for creating and implementing training, growth, performance evaluation, coaching, and leadership programs for maintenance employees, and providing guidance to other departments to improve process capabilities, production volume, and quality standards.
  
• Ensure compliance with quality, food safety, and HAACP programs.
  
• Directly supervise maintenance employees, and be responsible for hiring, training, scheduling, appraising, and managing their work.
  

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Robust maintenance leadership experience most recently serving at a Manager or Superintendent-level in a large industrial facility.
• Extensive knowledge of equipment theory and history, electrical operations, advanced process controls, power generation, ammonia refrigeration, pneumatics, thermodynamics, welding, machining, food processing and sanitation, and maintenance scheduling.
• Demonstrated knowledge of electrical and mechanical equipment and functions.
  
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering highly preferred
  
• Understands OEE and demands for equipment reliability
• Strong leadership skills are evident with work history.
  
• Strong safety knowledge of OSHA Regulations as they apply to maintenance. (NFPA 70E / LOTO etc.)
  
• Experience working in a lean manufacturing environment, possessing the demonstrated skills necessary to resolve problems and experience with TPM
