The Minnesota Float Team is part of Volunteers of America National Services (VOANS) which serves as the Housing and Healthcare affiliate of the Volunteers of America parent organization.

About the Job:

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) utilizes the nursing process to organize and provide direct care to residents. The LPN will organize, facilitate, and carry out shift routines in the assigned nursing unit.

Required Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.   • Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program.
  • Have a current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of Minnesota
  • Have a current BLS/CPR Certification.
  • Effective communicator with staff, families and outside agencies.
  • Ability to prioritize duties.
  • Customer service oriented with knowledge of successful customer service techniques.
  • Ability to understand residents' charts, doctor's orders, residents' plan of care, and medication orders.
  • Have the ability to effectively gather clinical data in regards to resident status and condition.
  • Understand current Antibiotic Stewardship, Infection Prevention & Infection Control and OSHA guidelines.
  • Attend required in-services and complete assigned on-line modules.
  • Undergo background screenings for employment purposes. This includes a criminal and drug screening.
  • Must be willing to work in facilities following precautions and testing requirements for COVID-19.
    Preferred Skills:
    • Have experience working in an assisted living or long-term care environment
    Essentials:
    • Follows all shift routines, policy and procedures regarding monitoring of vital signs, weights, administration of medications and treatments.
    • May administer professional services, such as catheterization, tube feedings, suctioning, applying/changing bandages, packs, colostomies and drainage bags. Provide range of motion exercises, care of the dying/expired resident etc.
    • Maintains all required documentation in an accurate and timely manner according to policies and procedures of the facility, including documentation of medications, treatments, restraints, psychotropic medications and skin condition.
    • Positively communicates with NAR/S, HHA's, TMA's, interdisciplinary team, customers, residents and families.
    • Contribute toward completing and updating resident's care plans, as directed by RN.
    • Perform routine charting duties as required and in accordance with established charting and documentation policies and procedures.
    • Accurately transcribes physician's orders as per facility protocol and forwards necessary information to other departments.
