JOB SUMMARY:

The Quality Inspector will be responsible for inspection of cut, formed, weld fabricated, machined or assemblies for adherence to engineering drawings.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Interpretation and understanding of shop drawings to determine if a part is made to print. Examples are:

  • Weld symbols
  • Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing symbols
  • Print legend and notation
The ability to use measuring instruments to verify whether a product is conforming to shop drawings. Examples include Micrometer, Caliper, Jo blocks, Pin gage, Tape measure, Dial indicator Manual Dexterity and ability to lift to 30 lbs. Must be able to distinguish color in this position and the ability to read small print and distinguish fine details. Reading skills to understand instructions, plans, or purchase orders. Good communication skills enabling verbal and written communication using active listening and learning. Tasks include but are not limited to:
  • Process Production reject tags, issuing a Quality Hold.
  • File Maker system for accurate product disposition with basic computer skills.
  • Issue Quality Hold for all nonconforming material.
  • Help investigate out of process activities and assist with containment of nonconforming material.
  • Review process check sheets for completeness.
  • Audit defined processes for adherence to the process.
QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma (or GED). Prior manufacturing experience, with some aspect of Quality inspection (preferred). Prior experience in metal fabrication a plus or welding/layout experience (preferred). Basic blueprint reading skills and welding symbols. The ability to use basic computer programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. (preferred) Must have ability to use appropriate tools related to the task.
