Job Purpose:

The Maintenance Lead is responsible for performing repairs on all machinery and equipment throughout the plant and is also accountable for minor administrative functions including assigning work orders and work order time recording.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Troubleshoot and repair equipment - evaluate equipment operation and perform necessary action when malfunction occurs or improvements are needed.
* Performs preventive maintenance activities as dictate by work schedule.
* Administration - distribute work orders, process/summarize work order data, initiate purchase requisitions, utilize equipment, and process documentation.
* Keep Daily Task Board current and up to date
* Assists technicians with physical/technical aspects of job execution records/reorder parts when necessary.
* Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

Equipment Used:

This position uses the following equipment in the course of the job duties: hand tools such as wrench and screwdriver, welding equipment, hand operated power tools, drill motor, circular saw, power tools such as drill press, bench grinder, and band saw, lathe, milling machine, tape measure, radio, computer, and phone.

Working Conditions:

This position spends the majority of time inside in a manufacturing environment (90%) and the remainder working outside (10%). There are some variables in the atmosphere that this position is exposed to - fumes, odors, dust, and poor ventilation. Business is cyclical and will require flexibility in shift hours and days of the week worked. This position also deals with special hazards: mechanical, electrical, and chemical. Typically shifts are Monday through Friday although Saturdays may be required during high sales volumes. Must be available for emergency calls from plant employees for equipment related issues.

* Education - High School diploma or GED required
* Five (5) years minimum maintenance experience as a hands-on craftsman in an industrial/manufacturing environment associated with engineering or maintenance activity

Qualifications:

* Understanding of basic mechanical & electrical principles as they apply to plant/process specific equipment (hydraulic and pneumatic systems also) along with the ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment
* Ability to comprehend complex technical topics and specialized information
* Prior leadership experience with a team of no less than four (4) employees
* Some knowledge and experience in using a forklift and scissor lift
* Experience with computers including Microsoft Office suite programs (Word, Excel, Outlook)
* Effective communication and problem solving skills
* Understanding of basic math, reading, and writing skills
* Ability to work under pressure to complete assigned tasks under stressful situations
