The IT Director of Data Operations and Analytics is responsible for our data management operations, capabilities, as well as enterprise reporting, and is a critical member of the IT leadership team reporting to the Vice President of Information Technology. In this role you will design, develop, and realize a data strategy and roadmap for Maxim Crane to continue to foster and enable our vigilance toward safety, compliance, customer focus, stellar maintenance, and critical KPIs. You will build and manage a team of internal staff, contractors, and vendors while establishing an agile and DevOps approach to manage data and changes to our ecosystems. You will have immediate impact opportunities across database performance and health, redefining and focusing an ETL methodology, managing multiple visualization platforms, propelling our data warehousing capabilities, as well as building and defining a data strategy. The position is in Canonsburg, PA with up to 5% travel. Maxim Crane IT also promotes a hybrid workplace for staff and flexible work/life balance.



Responsibilities


* Define, Build, and Implement a data management strategy to continue to produce and leverage our data, ensuring our vendors and analytics engines and are producing viable outcomes.
* Provide leadership, and a hands-on approach to meet growing demand, and manage an international team, as well as contract staff and managed service providers.
* Apply agile product management and DevOps procedures throughout the department to enhance internal working practices and improve speed to market.
* Maintain communications with relevant stakeholders to identify areas for upgrades and improvements.
* Support the organization with necessary training for data and analytics solutions.
* Build a platform that will visualize and report adherence to all KPIs, including DOT, IFTA, OSHA regulations and other relevant industry standards.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant data and analytics application developments within the industrial/construction industry.
* Partner with the business to ensure we are fully exploiting the value of enterprise information assets, leveraging a FAIR or other quantitative model, ensuring proper data ownership, and maximizing the use of our analytics capabilities to render insights for decision making.
* Drive automation of the processing of data and repetitive activities to reduce cost and ensure quality
* Develop strategies and drive business alignment to ensure consistent application and use of analytics tools throughout the enterprise.
* Oversee the development and deployment of the enterprise’s data and analytics platforms, especially in support of cloud data architectures, SaaS based analytics tools which provide scale and reduced levels of infrastructure support.
* In partnership with the business, increase data literacy and data capabilities across the enterprise members of the global IT & Digital team.
* Identify and challenge new data architecture, archiving, and analytics capabilities to constantly improve data capabilities at Maxim Crane Works.
* Define services for importing and exporting data to ensure quality, traceability, timeliness, usability and cost-effectiveness.
* Ensure processes are properly supported including SDLC, change management and updates to CMDB following ITIL processes.



Education/Experience:


* IT Degree (bachelors) and at least 15 years of relevant experience
or High School diploma and at least 20 years of relevant experience.

Requirements


* A scientific/technical degree level qualification (e.g. Engineering, Computer Science, etc.) – preferred. Years of experience and technical certifications could be leveraged in lieu of a degree.
* 5+ years’ experience managing data and analytics team(s).
* 8+ years’ experience architecting and configuring data structures, processing, and reporting solutions.
* Technical depth in database architectures, cloud, ELT processing, and analytics tools.
* Proven experience of agile product management and/or DevOps.
* Able to provide a Player-Coach approach to management, providing leadership while being hands-on technical leader.
* Excellent interpersonal communication skills, strong personal integrity, teamwork abilities, and a customer focus.
* A desire for continuous learning with a coaching mindset.
* Must have excellent spoken and written communication skills.
