Reporting Relationships

Directly reports to the Human Resources Manager and does not supervise others.

About the Role

This role primarily has the authority to enforce corrective action and ensure these job expectations are met and enforced; in order to facilitate effective environmental, safety and quality management systems; and authority to make recommendations in HR function.

  • Understand the importance of conformance with the environmental policy relevant procedures and the requirements of the EMS (Environmental Management System).

  • Understand the environmental impacts associated with their work activities and the environmental benefits of improved personal performance.

  • Understand their role in achieving conformance with the environmental policy, relevant procedures, and the requirements of the EMS, including preparedness and response.

  • Understand the potential consequences of deviation from specified operating procedures.
Immediately report any accidents and release to the Supervisor.

  • Recognize that adhering to job responsibilities and procedures regarding environmental, health and safety is a condition of employment.

  • Comply with all environmental, safety, and health rules, policies, and programs established by the company to the extent of training received.

ISO 9001 QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM/EMPLOYEE REPSONSIBILITY:

Adequately provide resources for all assigned processes and procedures to fulfill requirements. Awareness of expectations is demonstrated in all relevant levels of the organization. Reporting on the operation (audits & inspections) nonconformity and performance of the QMS (business meetings, KPI reviews, etc.)

Providing customers with products and services that meet or exceed their expectations. This will be achieved through:
  • Establishment of meaningful and measurable quality objectives that are subject to regular management review
  • Use of a quality management system that is primarily based on prevention rather than detection, and
Continued improvement of processes at all levels of the organization.

Role Responsibilities

  • Talent Acquisition:
    • Manage recruitment activities such as job postings, advertising, coordinating and scheduling interviews
    • Coordinate new hire physicals, drug & alcohol tests, background checks, and conduct new hire orientations
    • Revise and update job descriptions to better align with company vision and goals
  • Labor Relations:
    • Assist with the Grievance process
  • Talent Management
    • Employee Development Process- mid-year & annual performance reviews
    • Track and update training development
    • Update competency matrix for all departments.
  • Benefits Administration
    • Contact person for local employees regarding FMLA, STD, LTD and benefits
  • EH&S
    • Worker's Compensation claims and administration of safety shoes and glasses
  • Time and Attendance
    • Administer and track STD and FMLA requests
    • Track absenteeism and personnel turnover
  • Data Analytics
    • Complete monthly reporting attendance
    • Process status and pay actions (promotions, transfers, salary increases, terminations, separations, retirement actions)
    • Assist in preparing Affirmative Action information for annual and mid-year reporting
    • Track new hire evaluations
    • Process employment verifications
    • Maintain employee files
    • Maintain seniority listing for the union hourly personnel
    • Track probationary periods and lay offs
    • Coordinate service awards dinner and special events
  • Ability to provide information to management, supervisors, co workers and subordinates by telephone, in written for, email or in person
  • Act as a liaison between union and management.

Working Conditions

General office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing and walking for up to 10% of the time. Lighting and temperature is adequate. Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard equipment available. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount to force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Candidate Requirements

Minimum requirements:

  • 4-year degree with 2+ years of related HR experiences, or 2 year degree with 4+ years of related HR experience
  • Manufacturing experience a plus
  • Union experience a plus
  • Must be comfortable speaking in group settings
  • Must possess a sense of urgency and able to prioritize tasks based on demand
  • Must be organized and able to proactively tackle deadlines
  • Must possess strong communication skills to enhance understanding at all levels of the company
  • Must be proficient with MS Office, including Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook
