Job Description

GPIseeks a full-time Highway Engineering Project Manager for our growing Long Island Transportation Group. This group is based in our Babylon, NY, office. We are looking for individuals who are ready to work collectively with a multi-discipline team of engineers in a dynamic office environment on interesting and challenging projects. Our New York projects involve varying types of roadway, bridge, intersection, and trail designs. GPI understands our significant responsibility as engineers to provide safe, practical, and context-sensitive transportation solutions to the many communities and clients we serve. Responsibilities:

  • Ability to take the primary supervisory role in the design and development of Plans, Specifications and Estimates for transportation projects under the oversight of the Director of Transportation Engineering
  • Supervising/mentoring team members in the development of transportation design projects
  • Developing project contracts, schedules, budgets, and overseeing quality control
  • Managing projects for the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) and/or Massachusetts municipal clients
  • Presenting highway related design elements to clients and stakeholders
  • Assist with quality control of construction plans and design documents generated by other team members to ensure quality objectives are met
Qualifications:
  • BS in Civil Engineering
  • New York PE license
  • NYDOT and/or NY municipal client experience
  • AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or Bentley MicroStation experience is required
  • Able to interpret and apply technical information contained in procedures and manuals (including state specific manuals) to accomplish the design process for assigned projects
  • Ability to work effectively with an interdisciplinary team to meet challenging design and schedule requirements
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills
  • Progressive experience in highway design for public agencies

Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration
  • Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members
  • Able to wear GPI required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while working
