SUMMARY

Bering Straits Native Corporation is currently seeking a qualified Graphic Design Coordinator for Anchorage, Alaska.

This position reports to the Associate Director of Communications. The primary duty is to design and produce graphics for use in presentations, social media, and to manage the development of marketing materials, to include logos, brochures, and web sites, for BSNC corporate and its subsidiaries. This is a fast-paced, deadline-driven work environment that requires managing multiple projects simultaneously. A high degree of accuracy is required.

As a collateral duty, this position performs as graphic request coordinator, coordinating and maintaining an efficient method for processing graphic and other design requests from BSNC and its subsidiaries, performing responsible administrative duties in support of business development activities to include new logos, letterheads, business cards and other design needs.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Interfaces on a regular basis to facilitate meeting the graphic design needs of BSNC and its subsidiaries.
• Manage graphic design requests from BSNC and subsidiaries.
• Oversee marketing materials for BSNC and subsidiaries as required.
• Create graphics for use in presentations, social media, and other promotional materials.
• Assist with content development and creation for newsletters and various publications, including writing and editing.
• Ensure accurate placement of finished documents in Records Retention.
• Assist with the coordination and planning of BSNC Cultural Initiatives.
• Conduct in-region and media research and manage information.
• Assist with the planning, creation, and attendance of BSNC-related engagements and events.
• Collaborate on branding and promotional materials.
• Assist with maintaining/updating internal training videos.
• Assist with developing cultural video series.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

Required (Minimum Necessary) Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least two (2) years of experience in creative/graphic design role.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Proven ability to meet deadlines.
• High level knowledge of computer systems.
• Experience with graphic design software.
• Self-starter, able to work as a team member and independently.

Preferred

• Formal graphics training preferred.
• Ability to travel to remote areas of Alaska at least two (2) times per year.
• Knowledge of Bering Strait region and culture.
• Proven experience with the Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.

DOT COVERED/SAFETY-SENSITIVE ROLE REQUIREMENTS

• This position is not subject to federal requirements regarding Department of Transportation "safety-sensitive" functions.
• Driver's License (CDL) and Medical Examiner's Certificate (MEC).

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work Environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be borne by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The job is performed in an office setting with exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, mouse, and multi-line telephone system. The work described herein is primarily in a modern office setting. Occasional travel may be required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

• No supervisory responsibilities.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS

As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and have acceptable background check results. If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain the appropriate clearance levels required and be able to obtain access to military installations.
