We are looking for an experienced Senior Billing Manager that is self-motived, thrives in a fast-paced environment. In this role, you and your team will be responsible for the billing of all global energy projects. This will include billing for solar, battery and other products including meter management. In this role, you will help build the team from the ground up and set the processes & systems to support our exponential growth.

Prologis is currently ranked #2 for onsite solar among US corporations and is actively engaged in solar, storage and EV projects in over 11 countries. We are investing in projects, growing our team, and expanding our commitment to renewables globally. You will report to the Global Head of Asset Management and will play a meaningful role driving value for Prologis as we grow our solar generation capacity from ~300MW to 1GW by 2025 and reach net zero by 2040. This position offers an unparalleled ability to help build the largest portfolio of commercial energy assets globally.

What's needed in order to do that:

Billing, Collections & Customer Care

  • Generate customer energy invoices using a variety of tools including, billing software, Yardi, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Monitor the billing cycle and ensure that all billings are performed in a timely manner to meet established deadlines; run daily batch and monthly close out reports to update files.
  • Serve as the primary contact with utility companies to resolve questions related to utility meter management, utility bills, and tariff rate schedules.
  • Communicate directly with customers and various stakeholders to answer inquiries.
  • Perform the more difficult and complex billing duties including resolution of customer complaints, interpreting policies and tariffs, and resolving payment and service issues
  • Serve as the liaison with third party vendors that support the billing, collections, and customer care. Provide direction and oversight to ensure vendors are performing as expected.
  • Work with Asset Managers and third parties to identify and resolve metering issues.
  • Coordinate activities with other teams including real estate teams, treasury, accounting, etc.
  • Develop and prepare complex reports

Process and Systems
  • Work with IT to communicate billing requirements and develop and implement an automated billing system.
  • Develop monthly desktop procedures and quality check processes to ensure monthly billing is accurate and on-time.
  • Maintain accurate records related to billing, payments, customers, and accounting. Enter and maintain PPA rates, meter data, and other relevant billing data.
  • Determine and delegate work to vendors or internal employees as appropriate.
  • Create written policy and knowledge-based documents that will be used by others in resolving or escalating issues.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or similar field is preferred, but will consider someone with a high school diploma and equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in utility billing and customer relations; preferably energy billing.
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience
  • 2+ years prior experience working with an automated billing system.
  • Prior project management experience
  • Prior experience working with 3rd party vendors
  • Prior experience setting up a new team, establishing new process, and working with IT to onboard or develop a new system is preferred.
  • Prior experience in renewables is desired by not required.
  • Able to travel up to 10-20% of the time, including international travel.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Exceptional attention to detail and systematic approach when performing work.
  • Strong knowledge of utility tariffs/schedules, and standard procedures for customer care, billing, and collections.
  • Excellent customer service skills: ability to interact with customers and internal stakeholders tactfully and effectively.
  • Strong ability to communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to troubleshoot and recognize issues, and take appropriate steps to solve problems by applying principles of logic and scientific thinking.
  • Basic knowledge of accounting/bookkeeping terminology and methods
  • Aptitude to quickly learn specialized software for accounting, billing, and meter reading.
  • Strong math skills and intermediate to advance ability to use Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to make independent judgements in absence of supervision; and to acquire knowledge of topics related to primary occupation.
  • High-level of comfort in identifying and addressing staff and vendor deficiencies

Hiring Salary Range of: $138,000.00 - $179,000.00. Salary and whole compensation package (bonus target & LTI) to be determined by the candidate's location, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
