The core mission of the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at Indiana University in Bloomington is to unlock the mysteries of the human brain and behavior, and to prepare students to apply that knowledge to improve the lives of people around the globe. As a part of the College of Arts and Sciences (The College), we are a highly multidisciplinary department, with faculty and students carrying out research ranging from molecular neuroscience to artificial intelligence. We currently have over 70 full-time faculty, more than 30 department-serving staff members, 100 graduate students, 1800 undergraduate majors, 750 undergraduate minors, and offer nine different undergraduate credentials, including a BS / BA in Psychology, a BS in Neuroscience, a BS in Organizational and Business Psychology, and certificate in Clinical Science.

Job Summary

  • Under moderate supervision, performs financial and administrative tasks related to processing financial or other administrative records.
  • Processes documents into the university's central information systems (Travel, KFS, HRMS, etc.) and verifies that information is correct. Investigates and resolves discrepancies in financial documents.
  • Maintains records of financial transactions, compiles data, and prepares reports.
  • Verifies accuracy of adjustments to payroll including supplements and garnishments. Audits, coordinates, and processes payroll; verifies accuracy of payroll information.
  • Confirms available accounts and ensures timely payments are made to payees.
  • Responds to inquiries regarding financial and/or personnel policies and procedures.
  • Serves as a liaison to department and/or other university divisions.
  • May provide guidance to lower-level employees on their day-to-day work.
  • Responsibilities may include but not limited to: payroll, procurement, travel, and monthly financial reporting.

EDUCATION

Required
  • High school diploma or GED
Preferred
  • Associate degree
WORK EXPERIENCE

Required
  • 2 years of relevant experience

  • Basic accounting and financial skills; ability to reconcile accounts.
  • Prior demonstrated ability to apply concepts and policies to daily work functions
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to clearly present material and make it accessible to a specific audience.

Working Conditions / Demands

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

$18.27 per hour - 19.23 per hour
($38,000 - $40,000 annualized)
