SUMMARY

This role is responsible for driving product and process development as well as managing Carlisle Medical Technologies (CMT) Engineering staff in the Kent, WA Development Center. This is a hands-on position requiring a deep understanding of customer requirements, product design, product testing, and manufacturing processes. This location is an integral part of product development process for our customers. It provides process development, product testing, and technical support to the manufacturing plants. Additional responsibilities to include interfacing with customers, applications engineers, and development teams in manufacturing plants to realize product designs and manufacturing processes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* Manages Medical Engineering staff in the Development Center located in Kent, WA.
* Interfaces with development teams to ensure activities directed to the Development Center meet expectations and are completed on time.
* Responsible for scheduling development activities in Development Center.
* Helps staff with creating assembly process steps for specific products and with developing product testing approach and test methods.
* Creates development plans, and actively participate in product and process development activities.
* Interprets customer drawings, specifications, and workmanship standards.
* Must be able to fully understand CMT's production capabilities and data requirements and must be able to communicate professionally with customer and CMT personnel.
* Provides support as needed to CMT production engineers and process engineers once quotation becomes an order.
* Ensures proper protocols and reports are written and approved.
* Ensures that test methods are documented.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

* Establishes near term and long-term Medical Development Center Engineering objectives and plans that tie to the Medical organization's objectives
* Establishes measurable goals with linkage to business objectives that are then cascaded down to the respective engineers & technicians, providing consistent feedback, and course correction where necessary
* Provides technical product and process support as required. Manages resource allocation and assignments as required, monitors NPD forecast and ensures sufficient capacity is available
* Works with Sales and Marketing to discern competitiveness of new products and technologies
* Develops tools and systems that support NPD process and accountability
* Resolves process related technical challenges as they are escalated and demand resolutions
* Support the development and execution of our technology roadmap.

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for leadership and management of the Medical Development Center team in Kent WA. This position is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this team. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. A critical element of success will be the employment of required tools to effectively manage an engineering team.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Must be able to work in an office/factory environment to include walking the factory floor, walking up/down stairs and other related activities; additionally, working in an administrative environment, to include computer and presentation skills. Must be highly proficient and engaged in the remote management of supporting resources.

TRAVEL

Up to 25% travel will be required.

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidates should have

* Technical four-year degree in an applicable Engineering discipline
* 5 to 10 years in roles requiring engineering management/leadership of technical personnel
* Results oriented and driven personality
* Able to work in a multi-facility global environment
* Strategic thinker with ability to develop and communicate both long-term and short-term plans
* Works well with others and is a motivational leader
* Coaches, mentors, and directs subordinates
* Experience working as, and with Six Sigma certified employees
* Strong communication skills - verbal, written, and presentational
* Strong trouble shooting skills
* Strong analytical and math skills
