Position Overview

Drives truck with capacity of more than 3 tons, to transport materials to and from specified destinations.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Comply with DOT requirements to include licensing, vehicle inspection, hours, etc.
  • Must have valid Class A CDL with air brake endorsement.
  • Drive in traffic and maneuver truck, including backing safely, to load and unload aggregate.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions including city street maps and complete necessary paperwork.
  • Ability to move hand and foot controls and understand and follow hand signals while operating the truck.
  • Inspect truck from a checklist at the start of each workday, completing the Driver Check-off Sheet which indicates that all systems are functioning properly.
  • Understand that attendance and punctuality are required each day of work.

Education and/or Experience
  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Meet all eligibility requirements for driving a commercial motor vehicle in interstate commerce as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
  • Must have a Commercial Driver's License Class A (CDL).

Work Requirements
  • Must be 18 years in age or older.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
  • Must possess a valid Medical Card as per DOT requirements.
  • Report to the plant dressed appropriately and ready to begin work at the designated start time.
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Willingness to work independently within a team environment and assist the team with other duties as required

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold and extreme heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
