Dispatcher

Summary:

The Dispatcher/ Scheduler will be responsible for providing on-time delivery service to aggregate, asphalt and construction customers in a detailed, timely and professional manner. This role will involve the solicitation of and management of contract trucks. This position requires the employee to perform a wide variety of Customer Service functions including, but not limited to, the following:

Main Objectives:

  • Compile daily trucking demands from all stakeholders
  • Solicit contract haulers to ensure demand is being met
  • Communicate accurate addresses and delivery instructions to drivers
  • Utilize dispatching software and GPS tracking to ensure trucking is being efficiently utilized
  • Utilize software to clock in and out trucks to ensure accurate billing
  • Monitor internal and external jobs to ensure demands are meet while maintaining efficiency
  • Communicate with truck owners / operators about re-tasking as needed
  • Calculate and communicate haul rates
  • Notify customers in advance of late deliveries or delays in service
  • Keep the Customer Service/Dispatch Manager and Sales Department informed of problems or concerns throughout the day that may require their knowledge or attention
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
  • Reliable attendance is required
  • This position is considered "Safety Sensitive"

Who you are:
  • High School Diploma
  • Prefer 2 years of dispatch experience
  • Ability to interact and clearly communicate with internal and external personnel, customers and supporting agencies.
  • Detail-oriented
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical and computer skills.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, organized and team focused
  • Ability to be flexible
