POSITION SUMMARY:

The Nursing Program at Alma College, Alma, Michigan invites applications for the position of Director of Nursing Program. This position is responsible for providing administrative and strategic direction for pre-licensure undergraduate BSN nursing education. The Director leads the nursing program through many growth initiatives such as professional CCNE accreditation, evaluation and revision of program curriculum, strategic planning and assessment while maintaining alignment to the College's mission and vision.

The Director has overall planning, administrative, budgetary, and management oversight responsibility for the Nursing program. The Director will also teach a half teaching load each academic year (three units where 1 unit is equal to a 4-credit class.) The Director will coordinate and supervise department faculty and staff, as well as monitoring the need for part-time faculty. The Director also serves as an advisor to students and assists the Admissions department regarding prospective students.

As a member of the College, the Director also attends a variety of internal and external meetings and participates in committee work. This includes communication with the Michigan Board of Nursing regarding program requirements, coordinating with local hospitals and clinics for services, and working with internal College departments and committees.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants must hold a Master's degree in Nursing, but a conferred terminal degree (PhD, DNP or EdD) is preferred. Applicants must also have an unencumbered and current Registered Nurse (RN) license to practice in Michigan with nursing practice experience for at least five years. At a minimum, applicants should be able to demonstrate satisfactory experience teaching in an RN program for at least two years, coupled with teacher evaluation and training experience.
