The Medicaid program provides coverage for low income or disabled Nebraskan's. If you have experience drafting and implementing Medicaid or health policy, procedures, or regulations this is the right position for you. As a member of the Division of Medicaid and Long-Term Care Policy Unit this position is integral to:

-Developing and maintaining Medicaid policy for the State;

-Ensuring program policy is in compliance with federal regulations, federal laws, state laws;

-Analyzing and formulating policy positions and procedures for the Medicaid program, which includes policies for eligibility, service coverage, provider requirements, and managed care;

-Write position papers, impact statements, regulations, federally required forms, and other documents to formulate policy material for the Medicaid program;

-Conduct research and meet with other department staff, including executive level leadership;

-Draft proposals and present information to leadership, and

-Establish and maintain relationships with state and federal governmental agencies and local community groups involved with program activities and/or functions.
Qualifications / Requirements
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree, OR equivalent coursework/training, in public administration, social/behavioral sciences, healthcare, human services or other program related field. Professional experience working in a human/social service or health care agency with responsibility for planning or evaluation services, programs or operational policies and practices may substitute in lieu of the educational requirement.

PREFERRED: An understanding of public policy, knowledge of Medicaid, demonstrated experience of research analysis and writing skills.

OTHER: Hybrid in-office and remote work schedule possible after successful completion of original probation - generally after the first six months of employment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
An understanding of public policy, knowledge of Medicaid, demonstrated experience of research analysis is key. Persuasive writing skills and the ability effectively communicate in individual and group settings; draft correspondence; proofread documents for grammar, punctuation, spelling, and composition; work under pressure and under deadlines; utilize organizational skills and attention to detail.
