Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University invites nominations and applications for the position of Dean of the College of Aviation at the institution's campus in Prescott, Arizona. The University seeks an authentic, accomplished, and highly collaborative leader to provide oversight for one of the nation's most comprehensive academic programs for degrees in Aviation and Aerospace-related fields. Candidates must have a keen knowledge and love of aviation.

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) is recognized as the world leader in aviation and aerospace higher education. ERAU is a non-profit, private institution organized into three campuses, including two traditional residential campuses located in Daytona Beach, Florida and Prescott, Arizona, and a Worldwide Campus that offers top-ranked online learning and classrooms at more than 130 centers across the U.S., Europe, Asia, and South America. 


The College of Aviation at Prescott offers expertly maintained aircraft equipped with glass cockpits, along with leading-edge labs that replicate the nation's airspace, state-of-the-art maintenance and avionics repair facilities, and unrivaled aviation simulation centers that showcase the latest in training technology. The Prescott Campus Flight Training Center will debut, in summer 2024, expanded simulation facilities. Fiscal years 2020 through 2022 saw a $22.4 million investment in new aircraft and simulators, with an additional $34.4 million in renovations and projects projected through 2025.


The College of Aviation serves over 1,200 undergraduate and 20 graduate students. The College of Aviation is comprised of the Aeronautical Sciences, Flight, Applied Aviation Sciences, Safety Science and Aviation Safety Departments, as well as the Robertson Safety Institute.   


The Dean oversees approximately 40 full-time faculty (including the Associate Dean and Department Chairs), close to 20 part-time faculty, and nine direct staff. The Dean also supervises the Department Chair of Flight who oversees approximately 160 flight instructors, 44 full-time and eleven part-time staff.


The next Dean will hold a doctoral degree or terminal degree and a record of professional accomplishment sufficient to be appointed as a tenured full professor. Outstanding teaching, research, service, and industry experience are highly valued.  An advanced degree in an aviation-related field/discipline is preferred.  The next Dean will have a strong track record of successful personnel management as chair, director, or in a comparable administrative role, including experience mentoring talented faculty, staff, administrators, and students to perform at their best.
