Teleflex has an exciting opportunity within its in-house legal department for a highly motivated, experienced U.S. attorney to join the organization as Corporate Counsel. This position will be located at Teleflex's corporate headquarters in Wayne, PA.

Principal Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Associate General Counsel managing global litigations and/or investigations and/or the General Counsel, this Corporate Counsel position will be responsible for supporting a wide range of general litigation matters on a global basis, including managing outside counsel, establishing, monitoring and managing budgets and expenses, managing discovery and providing advice to assist the company in mitigating litigation risk. Candidates must have excellent judgment, the courage to make difficult decisions in compliance with all applicable laws, and be able to successfully counsel peers and executives on strategic initiatives. Specific roles and responsibilities for this position include the following:

• Manages and works closely with outside counsel, experts, and vendors in a wide range of litigation, but with a particular emphasis on employment-related claims, including but not limited to issuing litigation holds, information gathering, e-discovery, documents collection, preparation of witnesses for deposition and trial and attendance at hearings when needed or appropriate;
• Works closely and effectively with cross-functional internal departments (such as business, human resources, finance, etc.) to support defending the company against any potential claims and ensure compliance with applicable law;
• Provides day-to-day employment-related counseling to HR and management on a variety of subjects, including but not limited to employee terminations, FMLA and other protected leaves, ADA reasonable accommodations, employee relations, including but not limited to discipline, wage and hour compliance, separation agreement reviews, restrictive covenants, and data privacy;
• Assists in the oversight of outside counsel in providing advice and support with respect to employee benefit plans and compensation programs (i.e., 401(k), health and welfare, annual and long-term incentive, and deferred compensation plan advice, etc.);
• Assists in assessing and anticipating business and legal risk associated with litigation claims and disputes in a variety of disciplines as needed and develops strategies to reduce risk and avoid litigation and disputes where appropriate;
• Assists in evaluating liability and damage issues and negotiate fair and equitable settlements, and attends mediations as a company representative when needed or appropriate;
• Maintains corporate records of litigation, claims, and disputes;
• Identifies opportunities for efficiencies and coordinates with outside counsel, vendors, and internal colleagues on process improvements;
• Supports internal investigations and coordinates with outside counsel, Employee Relations and/or Teleflex's Compliance Department, as appropriate;
• Evaluates insurance coverage;
• Supports the Associate General Counsel on various additional global litigations, investigations, or counseling matters as needed;
• Engages in such other duties as may be directed by the Associate General Counsel and/or General Counsel.

Education / Experience Requirements

• Minimum 5 years experience at a reputable law firm or in-house position providing advice and counsel managing employment litigation.
• Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school.

Specialized Skills / Other Requirements

• Pennsylvania Bar License, or ability to obtain Pennsylvania Limited In-House Corporate Counsel License.
• Prior in-house experience is a plus.
• Prior experience advising life sciences companies is a plus.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to make recommendations and exercise judgment.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills necessary to communicate with all levels of management.
• Time management and organizational skills necessary to independently manage a significant number of matters, appropriately prioritize workload, and plan for resources to meet deadlines and goals.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and project a professional image at all times.
• Self-motivated with critical attention to detail and deadlines.
• Software skills, including the use of Microsoft Office software and web-based applications.
• Ability to travel on a limited basis.
