Focus: Work within a multi-disciplinary group to develop advanced and high-fidelity computational models in the field of cardiovascular medical technology (coronary artery interventions). The candidate will be responsible for developing sophisticated computational models and in-vitro models to advance our understanding of coronary artery interventions on vascular biomechanics and the underlying mechanobiology.

Detailed Duties: Develop and test the advanced constitutive model for arterial tissue and high-fidelity computational models for cardiovascular interventions (Stenting, Grafting, Rotablation, etc.). The candidate will (i) conduct mechanical tests on arterial tissues, analyze data, and develop advanced constitutive models for capturing the mechanical behavior of arterial tissue computationally, and (ii) develop advanced and high-fidelity finite element (FE) models and computational fluid dynamic (CFD) models for coronary artery interventions, and perform parametric studies. The candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary product development team with medical, image processing, and artificial intelligence (AI) areas of expertise.

Skills required: A strong background in FE modeling, CFD analysis, and computational methods. PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanics, or equivalent field. Proven expertise in finite element analysis (FEA) software (Abaqus, Ansys, LS-dyna, etc.) and CFD software (Fluent, SimVascular, etc.). Excellent experience with CAD software (Rhino, Solidworks, etc.) and meshing tools (Hypermesh, ICEM, etc.). Experience with arterial mechanics and the constitutive modeling of biological tissue.
