Job Responsibilities:

The Business Analyst will play a pivotal role in transforming the Retail industry and how retailers conduct analytics and generate insights to deliver optimized experiences & personalized value to their shoppers. Delivering simple, easy-to-use insights solutions, like Collaborative Gateways, will be central to how Retailers embed data into their day-to-day decision-making. This role will be responsible for helping Circana develop a portfolio of solutions to help our retail clients achieve these objectives.

The successful candidate will be a highly skilled Business Analyst who is comfortable working in a start-up environment where speed-to-market must be achieved in tandem with game-changing innovation. She/he will be experienced in driving complex, multi-faceted solutions across the vast landscape of Retail channels leveraging diverse, cross-functional teams including Technology, Product Marketing, Commercial Sales, and HR. She/he will be responsible for documenting and constantly improving Circana's standardized collaborative insight solution across new markets; demonstrating expert-level written and spoken articulation of the business ideas, systems, processes, steps, wire-frames and test-criteria into comprehensive technical requirements that enable our developers to successfully build new solutions. While activities will vary and evolve, the Business Analyst can expect to spend 80% of their time building the requirements associated with the Collaborative Gateway solution. The remaining 20% will be allocated to assisting the Product Manager in developing & delivering impactful project communication that will be used to inform the Senior Leadership team as well as all key stakeholders up to the level of CEO.

Reporting Relationship:

The Gateway Business Analyst will report to the Gateway Product Manager. The Product Management function resides within Circana's Technology division. The Gateway Product manager reports to the Executive Vice President Global Retail Solutions.

Job Requirements:

  • Ten or more years of SaaS solution requirements development experience in one or more of the settings below:
    • Retail insight solution & data experience (Grocery, Drug, Mass, Club, etc.)
    • Market research supplier with a defined software offering
    • SaaS solution company (retail-oriented software company preferred)
    • Category Management function (Category/Brand manager, DMM, CPO)
  • Expert requirements documentation, organization, and explanation skills required
  • Business Analysis Certification highly preferred (i.e. IIBA, CBDA, CPOA, etc.)
  • Knowledge of cloud, hybrid, and on-premise computing concepts (i.e. Azure, Google, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Data & Database Management concepts (i.e. MongoDB, PostgreSQL, etc.)
  • Knowledge of BPA & ETL concepts (i.e. Ab-Initio, Apache Airflow, etc.)
  • Category Management certification preferred (CMA, SIMA)
  • A flexible approach to communication; able to adapt their message quickly to the appropriate level or function with poise and polish. A history of strong performance at the C-level is a plus
  • Self-motivated; a healthy sense of impatience; start-up-level urgency
  • Proven skills to thrive and drive project results in an ambiguous and fast-paced environment; comfort/confidence making decisions with 70% of the facts in-hand
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to articulate complex technical issues in a concise and polished manner to a diverse audience
  • Ideally, reside in or be willing to relocate to Chicago, Illinois or vicinity
  • Experience with client facing projects
  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. An advanced degree is a plus
The below range reflects the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future. An employee's position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs. The salary range for this role is $125k to $150k.

This job is also eligible for [bonus/incentive/commissions/equity] pay.
