Job Summary

We are looking for an Automation Technician to perform maintenance and repairs on production equipment and control systems (e.g., mechanical, electrical, controls and PLCs). Evaluate and recommend equipment improvements to improve efficiency and capability. Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment and control problems. Prepare technical reports to document automation issues.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Promote a safe working environment by following all safety procedures
* Maintain material handling control systems, industrial, motor control systems, servo and frequency drives, and electrical distribution systems
* Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary.
* Actively assist with planning/scheduling and storeroom staff for CMMS tracking: work orders, parts, purchase requisitions.
* Escalate to operations and network support resources for guidance and assistance to restore equipment back to operational mode with minimal downtime impact for Operations
* Work directly with production associates and management to problem-solve and correct production issues that will ensure maximum production efficiencies.
* Other duties as assigned.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Used:

* Eye and hearing protection is required at all times on the production floor.
* Safety toe shoes (steel/composite) must cover ankle
* Other PPE as defined by management within assigned department.

Education and Experience:

* Required:

* Associates degree in Electronic Technology (or similar)

* Preferred:

* 2+ years apprenticeship or equivalent experience in Control Systems troubleshooting/ programming
* 2+ years of experience with Motor Controls (motor starts, variable frequency drives, DC drives, and standard electrical components)
* 2+ years of experience with repair of control network components
* 1+ years of experience with HMI components
* 1+ years of experience with Programmable Logic Controls (PLC) programs
* 1+ years of experience with Industrial electrical hands-on experience and troubleshooting
* Ability to work multiple tasks under pressure while maintaining professional demeanor with customers and co-workers
* Project Management experience with the ability to train others
* Experience with robotic maintenance
* Experience with AB RS LOGIX 5000 PLC's and PLC components
* Experience with SCADA systems and KPI's

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

* Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary.
* Ensure compliance with Controls Change Management System
* Effectively maintain programming, hardware networking and communication; troubleshoot, determine causes of failure and perform corrective actions; oversee full industrial control system project implementation on both hardware and software problems
* Support predictive and preventative maintenance program
* Support plant control system upgrades
* Support internal projects
