Zurich Group Audit is a fun, exciting, fast-paced, and high-performing team of audit professionals with diverse professional and cultural backgrounds and experiences. We seek a highly experienced Audit Director for Group Audit in the US to oversee the delivery of our Property and Casualty (P&C) insurance audit portfolio and deputize the Head of Audit for North America for US P&C-related activities. This person will work at our North America HQ in Schaumburg, IL.

The US P&C Internal Audit Director will primarily oversee the delivery of P&C audits in the US, deputizes the Head of Audit for North America as the key point of contact to US P&C local management, supports, develop, and continuously risk-assesses the US P&C annual audit plan. The role will present regular updates to the quarterly US P&C Assurance Coordinator Meeting and the Risk and Control Committee (as needed) and reports to the Head of Audit for North America.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and 10 or more years of experience in the financial services, internal audit or P & C insurance audit area AND
  • Knowledge of commercial and retail insurance trends, emerging risks and their impact on insurance.
  • Experience with audit techniques including data analytics and agile audit.
  • Experience in leading teams through change within diverse and international organizations in a hybrid and/or remote working environment.
  • Experience evaluating and challenging risk assessments to assess the applicability of audit planning, audit findings, potential exposures and materiality that may impact the business.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Internal Auditor (CIA).
  • P&C insurance certification, ideally from the American Institute For Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters (e.g., CPCU, AIC, AU, or ARM), or close to obtaining this.
  • Possess significant knowledge of auditing Property and Casualty (P&C) Insurance, including Underwriting, Claims, Reinsurance, with a record of identifying value add observations.
  • Strong understanding of US regulatory requirements.
  • A clear understanding of the llA Standards regarding audit delivery and audit planning/Head of Audit responsibilities.
  • Understand the audit methodology required to deliver excellent audit outcomes and the skills and competencies needed to provide quality, impactful and insightful audit reports. This includes a good understanding of the power of data analytics.
  • Experience as a line manager for a smaller (audit) team or similar capacity providing performance reviews and coaching to experienced professionals.
  • Excellent relationship management skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact across all levels within the business. Experience in presenting audit results at formal company governance committees.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • International work experience.
  • You should be willing and able to travel nationally and internationally (mainly within Canada and the US), approximately 10%.
  • Relevant Master's Degree in Insurance and Risk Management.
