Wright State is seeking qualified applicants for an Associate Vice Provost for Student Success to provide strategic planning and executive leadership to the Division of Student Success; coordinate and collaborate with key constituents, internal and external, to develop, implement, and assess initiatives, programs, services, and activities to enhance student success in academic performance, educational planning, professional preparation, career development, and experiential learning, while fostering a sense of belonging for all students. The Associate Vice Provost for Student Success reports to the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs.

Wright, Wright State University is a student-centered, public research institution with an R-2 Carnegie Mellon classification, based in the Dayton, Ohio Metropolitan Area. Wright State offers a comprehensive list of undergraduate and graduate programs through colleges of: Business; Health, Education and Human Services; Engineering and Computer Science; Liberal Arts; Science and Mathematics; and Medicine. Required Qualifications:

  • A Master's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of five years of administrative leadership experience in student development and success or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement a vision for student development and success.
  • Demonstrated data-informed decision making and use of predictive analytic modeling for developing student-based interventions.
  • Strong communication skills and a demonstrated ability to foster interpersonal relationships.
  • Excellent management, human relations, and problem-solving skills, including sophisticated understanding of best practices and current trends in academic student success in higher education.
  • Demonstrated success working collaboratively with institutional partnerships focused on improving student academic achievement through co-curricular learning experiences.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership skills, sound fiscal management, and the ability to build collaborative relationships among a wide range of constituents, including faculty, staff, academic administrators, employers, community leaders, donors, and other key stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated strong organizational skills, including allocating tasks and managing complex projects, functioning effectively in a highly ambiguous environment, and working well with leadership, faculty and staff at all levels of an organization.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Doctoral (i.e. terminal) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Experience in research methods, strategic planning and practiced data-informed leadership.
  • Knowledge of student information systems such as Banner and Slate.
  • Previous supervision and management of direct reports.
  • Experience in writing education grants.
