This position will assist students in matters of Accountancy academic policies and procedures, course selection and schedule planning, and preparation for Accountancy careers. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide professional service to a diverse student population by giving accurate and timely information when
responding to questions posed by prospective and enrolled students, their families, other visitors,
administrators, and faculty.
- Advise students about the policies and procedures of the Department and College.
- Advise students about the programs and graduation requirements of the Department.
- Interpret and explain the Code on Campus Affairs and Handbook of Policies and Regulations Applying to All
Students.
- Counsel students in depth about post-graduate study options.
- Assist students with resolution of academic problems.
- Create course plans for external students.
- Facilitate communication with probation/at-risk students to strategically plan for future success.
- inform and refer students to other institutional resources and services when necessary.
- Build a deep knowledge of University, College, and Department processes and policies regarding curriculum
changes and other issues relevant to students.
- Develop a working knowledge of the accounting profession in order to best advise students.
- Explain and illustrate use of the U of I Integrate registration.
- Use and interpret U of I Integrate registration.
- Achieve (DARS) reports.
- Assist with compiling of student data when necessary, using databases such as Web Intelligence Systems.
- Utilize the University's Banner and Slate systems to enhance s tudent advising.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Working knowledge of computer related databases and office-related software.
- Knowledge of accountancy programs and/ or accountancy field.
This is a 100% full-time Academic Professional position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after July 1, 2024. The minimum salary for this position is $52,000 a year.
