Responsibilities include the set-up and daily operation of wastewater treatment and DAF unit. Supports immersion coating (Chromate line), Zinc on Steel. The Technician will maintain an inventory of all wastewater treatment chemical supplies and will verify proper operation of the Environmental Control Systems. Complete system checklists and activities log book as required."title":"Primary Duties & Responsibilities","content":" (5% ) Checks all WWT safety guards and switches and eye-wash and shower stations for proper operating condition. (10% ) Maintain the cleanliness of the plating and waste water treatment areas, equipment and control stations, insuring that all floors are dry and free of chemicals and other obstructions. (10% ) Verify that all systems are operable and that chemical levels are adequate for proper operation. Maintains a minimum of one week supply of chemicals in stock. (10% ) Keeps records of all generated waste sludge up to date, labeled and stored in appropriate location. (5% ) Records daily water consumption in appropriate log(s). Samples wastewater for required analysis. (10% ) Performs wastewater analysis as required. (5% ) Supports the Plating operation with chemical analysis of solutions and determines additions needed to adjust solutions to proper range, records results. (10% ) Prepares Chemical Addition Slips as indicated by analysis results. Provides them to Line Operators for additions. (10% ) Verifies all mechanical and physical parameters of Environmental Systems are in range using appropriate checklists. (5% ) Corrects or assists in the correction of non-compliant parameters. (10% ) Performs all Environmental Control System preventative maintenance, completes process tickets for repairs. (5% ) Starts up all waste water treatment and environmental control units. (5% ) Willing to support the plating/finishing department when needed (Backup Chemical Lab Technician-See Additional Duties section) (0% ) For Physical Requirements and Working Conditions see Form No. 612-20 As the WW Technician: Verifies safety measures, such as wearing protective clothing and glasses, and reports and corrects (when possible) all unsafe working conditions. The Technician is to participate in group efforts so that each individual may be able to function in the team. The following listed duties relate to backup Chemical Lab Technician: (20% ) Performs with accelerated proficiency all analysis related to the plating processes. Bath analysis will be performed per schedule or as requested by supervisor, plating engineer, or EHS manager. Proficient use of the following laboratory equipment: AA, Spectrophotometer, balance and scales, and pipettes. (15% ) Maintain chemistry control equipment (PM probes, etc.) to ensure efficient and accurate operation. (15% ) Establish and maintain a data collection system in order to track critical plating process parameters and monitor trends. (10% ) Checks all safety guards and switches, for proper operation daily. (10% ) Corrects or assists in resolving out of specification parameters. Performs spot checks of finish quality. (10% ) Performs necessary preventive maintenance on lab equipment and completes process tickets for repairs. (5% ) Complete Green Belt level Six Sigma projects as assigned. (5% ) Willing to move to any shift when necessary to support process issues (10% ) Provide any other analytical, technical, or administrative support as directed by plating engineer, environmental engineer, or EHS Manager."title":"Education and Experience Profile","content":" High School diploma or equivalent Prefer Associates Degree in Science or 2-years of applicable experience. Ability to read and write English and do simple arithmetic Ability to add, subtract, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rates, ratios and percentages."title":"Required Skills","content":" Position requires a minimum of 2-years' experience in industrial wastewater operations/certification or 2-years' experience in analyzing of plating bath chemistry. The Technician must maintain a high degree of safety in the work area, starting with cleanliness and ending with sound teamwork. Training in computer spreadsheets, SPC, charts, methods and uses in the control of process' and quality will be helpful. Must possess leadership skills such as mentoring of other Technicians, communicate problems and the ability to impartially and constructively arbitrate and solve problems and issues as they arise. Must understand the pH scale, demonstrates necessary math skills to support the position. NOTICE: Employees considered for the Technician position are required to pass a pre-placement exam which includes all of the following: baseline lab work comprehensive medical and work histories physical exam with attention given to respiratory tract and evaluation of skin conditions Repeat evaluation of above in 6 months or sooner if situation warrants. Repeat evaluation of above annually. Prior to work there will be a complete orientation as to the process, chemicals used and possible hazards. Respirator training will be required, fit testing, and proper care and storage of equipment is needed.
