In our pursuit to create a world with Zero Crashes, Zero Emissions and Zero Congestion, GM's Global Manufacturing Engineering team is challenging the limits on what is possible and embracing agility as it reimagines how to build the next generation of vehicles. Our diverse team of Manufacturing Engineers play a crucial role in transforming our facilities through implementing the adoption of ground-breaking technologies. From raw sheet metal to final assembly, this team is reinventing the tools and processes that will enable GM to deliver on our promise to create an all-electric future.

This individual will be responsible for throughput analysis and simulation of new Vehicle programs throughout all phases of the Global Vehicle Development Process (GVDP). This individual will collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering (ME) centers in the design and optimization of current and future manufacturing systems and will support plants in throughput improvement initiatives.
Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Implement simulation deliverables for assigned new/major Vehicle programs.
  • Optimally run experiments/analysis, interpret results, and generate standard reports
  • Respond to throughput simulation pulls from assigned manufacturing facilities.
  • Extract necessary inputs from Manufacturing Planning documents and calculate Stand Alone Throughput (SAT) targets and overspeed.
  • Occasional travel (5%)
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required.
  • High level of communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines while keeping organized amidst varying projects and multi-plant assignments.
  • High level of analytical ability where problems are complex.
  • Basic knowledge of GMS principles and concepts that can be applied to throughput requirements

    Additional Job Description

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience in either Vehicle or GPS manufacturing facilities
    • Experience with the Throughput Improvement Process (TIP), methods and tools
    • Previous experience with discrete event simulation software
