Job Description

Assists guests in the selection of wine and tequilas to accompany food choices, enhancing the dining experience and promoting sales. Assists Beverage Director with tequila and wine program including selection of tequilas and wines and inventory control. Coordinates special events and trains staff. Participates in operation as needed.


What will I be doing?

The Tequila Master's & Sommelier's job is to motivate and mentor staff's wine knowledge, inspire and delight our guests with their wine service, and commit themselves to fostering and environment of excellence in food, wine and service. Duties include: resolving guest issues, making menu suggestions, delivering food and drinks tables, describing the dishes to guests, recommending wine selections, overseeing service staff, monitoring guest satisfaction, and maintaining the flow of service throughout the dining room. Must be pleasant, conscientious, and professional with excellent knowledge of food and alcoholic beverage selections, and service standards. Must be able to operate effectively as part of a team, communicate clearly, and ensure smooth service operations and quality service. Specifically, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

  • Provide professional and current knowledge of wines to guests
  • Recommend wines to accompany relevant dishes to patrons
  • Describe and up-sell wines to provide excellent customer experience
  • Suggest wines to accompany new menus in line with financial budget
  • Project a professional manner with an emphasis on hospitality and guest service
  • Perform monthly inventory on wine and spirits
  • Respond to PR requests that relate to the beverage program
  • Strive to achieve departmental targets for beverage costs
  • Serve Alcoholic/non-Alcoholic beverages in conjunction with licensing/liquor regulations for residents and non-residents
  • Comply with hotel security, fire regulations and all health and safety legislation
  • Attend training provided by the hotel

Qualifications - Internal

  • 3-4 years fine dining leadership experience
  • MS Level Two candidacy or certifications preferred
  • Good grooming standards
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Passion and commitment to delivering exceptional levels of guest service
  • Ability to work on your own or in teams
