Job Description

The Supervisor of Quality Specifications is responsible for providing support for the leadership and coordination of managing the Global Quality Specifications processes and systems among cross-functional teams (this includes raw material, in-house and supplier finished product specifications).

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Administers and maintains Item Specification Change Control System.
  • Creation and revision of all specifications are managed through Item Specification Engineering Change Order (ECO) in Oracle PLM.
  • Being a super-user and manage/update account users for the group, contacts Oracle PLM administrators for issues.
  • Trains new users of Item Specification ECO.
  • Acts as the principal point of contact for the Quality Specification unit for responding and handling questions and requests regarding specifications from Corporate and site quality, Brand/ Marketing, RD, Tech Services, Regulatory, Nutrition Research, Procurement, IT (Oracle PLM), International Regulatory (including Canada) and Customer inquiries.
  • In the absence of the manager, review and approve applicable Quality procedures/specifications.
  • Manage projects as assigned by the Manager and also participate/represent the department during cross-functional teams' product development.
  • Train new employees on Quality specifications systems and processes.
Job Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in food, pharmaceutical/dietary supplement or regulatory environment required.
  • Knowledge of FDA regulations and industry standard monograph system as they relate to food and dietary supplements.
  • Must be versed in proximate calculations for the development of dietary supplement/ nutritional facts for food products as per FDA 21 CFR 110.
  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Chemistry or Nutrition Science or other closely related discipline required with 3 to 5 years of experience in food, pharmaceutical/ dietary supplement, or regulatory environment.
  • GMP and HACCP certification preferred.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work well under pressure.
  • Effective interpersonal skills to interact with various levels of internal and external customers.
  • Working knowledge of Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
  • Strong organizational and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines on a multitude of concurrent tasks.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer literacy in a Windows environment (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Office based position, may be expected to sit at a desk for extended periods of time, rarely may have to lift approx. 20 lbs. (i.e. a box of paper), frequent use of office equipment: computer, phone, fax and copier.
  • Work environment may be exposed to powders, chemicals and allergens (peanuts, tree nuts, milk, dairy, eggs, wheat, gluten, soy, fish and shellfish).
