For the last 100 years, our engines, generators and UPS products have powered homes, hospitals lawn mowers, stadiums, and everything in-between. As the Staff Product Engineer in the Power Group you will act as primary onsite residential generator product technical liaison & support to the Hattiesburg residential generator production line including assembly & test.

  • Drive sustaining product development including cost reduction initiatives, design for manufacturing improvements & timely resolution of system technical problems & manufacturing and quality issues.
  •  Prepare detailed project plans, including statements of technical objectives and approaches, task breakdowns, timelines, project cost estimates and product cost analyses, submit for approval.
  •  Direct and coordinate all work on assigned projects by engineers, support personnel, consultants and suppliers involving design, development, prototype construction and delivery, test/validation, and release for production.
  •  Assumes responsibility of all engineering project work and delegates sub-tasks to other functions.
  •  Lead and teach best practices to junior engineers, technical support personnel, and collaborate with multiple disciplines to deliver results.
  •  Maintain project records, prepare technical, cost, and other reports as requested to document progress and results achieved.
  •  Utilize creativity and brainstorming tools and techniques to solve complex problems with a high degree of technical competence. Readily identify technical tools needed to provide design solutions, whether they be off-the-shelf, contracted, or internally developed. Acquire and develop new tools as needed.
  •  Work with Accounting and Procurement functions to track actual project spending and product costs keeping them within prescribed targets.
  •  Identify and specify steps for design validation. Validate designs through calculation and/or testing to meet performance, reliability, and durability targets. Document test results.
  •  Lead continual improvement initiatives to streamline internal business processes and support systems upgrades.
  •  Successfully establish and maintain partnerships with peers, suppliers, and customers.


  • BSME/ME Technology (Mechanical Engineering) or BSEE/EE Technology (Electrical Engineering) from an ABET accredited program.
  •  5+ years engineering experience in manufacturing of complex industrial systems
  •  Basic knowledge of mechanical & electrical systems/controls
  •  Knowledge of any of the following a plus: MATLAB, PSPICE, Simulink, Orcad, Verilog, VHDL, Microsoft Project, 8d, A3 & 9-block Problem Solving Approaches
  •  Excellent abstract reasoning ability
  •  Excellent communication skills
  •  Excellent problem-solving skills, with capability of documenting problem-solving process and data used to make decisions.
  •  A broad base of power system industry knowledge including common methods of wiring, grounding, and industry accepted control topologies and communication techniques a plus
  •  A good general understanding of air-cooled dual fuel engines & residential standby generators preferred.
  •  A working knowledge of applicable regulatory standards
