Facebook is seeking an experienced leader with a deep technical background to directionally oversee and lead one of our key data center operations functions within the Facebook Data Center Site Operations team. The global Capacity function is present in every one of our data centers and are responsible for ensuring Facebook, and it's suite of applications, always have the computing and production infrastructure to reliably meet the ever-growing demand of the 2.2 billion people who use them every month. The Capacity team works with peer organizations and regional teams that affect and deliver services to Site Operations such as network operations, project management, facilities/maintenance management, logistics and supply chain operations in order to successfully deliver and maintain data center capacity to support ongoing business growth.The goal of the Capacity Lead Engineer is to secure the functionality of business to drive extensive and sustainable global growth. We seek a Subject Matter Expert who can continue to evolve and transform this business in terms of people, processes, operations, cost, reliability, global scale, tooling and automation to meet this huge and growing demand. We seek a leader who can quickly absorb and understand the technical challenges of subject matter experts, local Site leadership and Capacity teams, create alignment between these globally distributed teams and partner organizations, and who can set informed priorities and direction while getting commitment from all of these parties.

SiteOps Global Capacity Lead Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for the planning, execution and delivery of global capacity supply throughout the Data Center fleet
  • Be the authority and share an unmatched, deep technical expertise of all elements of the Capacity function, including tooling, process and architecture
  • Represent Data Center Site Operations in cross functional forums, at any level
  • Drive a singular operations strategy, goals and priorities for the global Capacity function within Site Operations
  • Measure and benchmark the effectiveness of operational processes both internally and externally, setting performance targets and driving improvements to quality, throughput and efficiency
  • Meet or exceed operational goals for the Capacity team
  • Develop scaling strategies and plans, be forward thinking by understanding infrastructure growth, identifying scaling issues before they occur and contributing to solutions
  • Drive robust, timely communications across a globally distributed team
  • Evaluate performance interpreting reported data and metrics
  • Develop close partnerships with Program Management, Tooling, Hardware, Capacity Planning, Sourcing and other teams to deliver superb operational results and manage the performance of external vendors
  • Formulate, execute and support initiatives that advance the Capacity team goals
  • Ensure robust, timely communications across a globally distributed team, and provide the team great visibility to progress and strategy
  • Maintain a close partnership and support onsite data center teams and leads globally
  • Approximately 30% - 40% travel required


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as Engineering or Operations Director, or relevant Senior Technical, Operations or Engineering Lead role
  • Organizational, technical and leadership experience
  • Working knowledge of IT/Operations Infrastructure
  • Prioritization skills and proven experience leading tooling, systems, automation and process
  • Interpersonal, partnership and communications skills
  • Aptitude in decision-making and problem-solving
  • BS or BA in electrical, mechanical, software or hardware engineering or commensurate experience
