Senior Project Design Analyst

The Senior Project Design Analyst organizes, develops and maintains project/tooling-engineering programs consistent with sound engineering practices.  Duties include CAD modeling/drafting of tooling, fixtures, and equipment, for multiple metals and polymer material sets globally. 

  • Directly involved with developing tooling design criteria for existing and new products with an emphasis on optimizing design to minimize scrap and warranty costs.
  • Support New Product Development and engineering changes by providing input to tooling cost estimates for all processes in conjunction with Tool Engineering procedures.
  • Using current modeling software to design, develop or modify tooling concepts to support Advanced Development and New Product Development projects.
  • Participate on teams that are responsible for the design, development, and introduction of new products.
  • Support production processes to assure conforming product as defined by the product prints and specifications.
  • Support and suggest changes in the process, working methods, equipment, fixturing, tooling, or operation sequence in order to improve efficiency.
  • Develop and provide tooling specifications to corporate purchasing team members for quoting in all regions.
  • Maintains direct contact with outside tooling vendors during the construction, repair, and maintenance of pattern tooling.
  • Investigate manufacturing problems with products, as they relate to tooling and or production equipment to initiate/support corrective actions.
  • Familiar/trained with simulation and working to understand the capabilities.

Skills/Requirements

  • Associate Degree from a technical college or bachelor's degree (can be non-engineering discipline).
  • Typically, 3-7 years of experience in a CAD role and 7+ years in a technical or manufacturing role
  • CREO (3D modelling)/AutoCAD experience required.
  • Tooling design and simulation preferred.
  • Must be able to travel up to 15%
