Senior Buyer 

Location:  Bristol, PA

Opportunity

Are you someone that thrives in a fast paced environment while juggling multiple priorities? Do you have a background in purchasing? If so, consider applying for our Buyer position in our Bristol, PA Manufacturing Plant.

Under the direction of the Supply Chain Manager, Robern you will be responsible for purchasing and negotiating materials, equipment, and/or services from suppliers. Prepares and evaluates supplier quotations and services to determine most competitive solution based on total cost to business. Familiar with a variety of purchasing concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Leads sourcing projects and supplier performance reviews.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Drive the sourcing process to secure goods/services to ensure competitiveness and to limit risk of Robern:
    •  Review purchase requirements with internal customer(s) to develop business need
    •  Recommend alternative material or methods based on knowledge of market availability
    •  Obtain supplier quotations/proposals on prospective purchases
    •  Review bid proposals, quotes and make recommendations
    •  Set standard costs annually
    •  Negotiate supplier agreements with awareness of the cultural, geographic, and political environment
    •  Ensure timely planning and receipt of components to prevent production stoppage
    •  Expedite goods and services if needed and follow-up on major orders to ensure proper handling and delivery
  •  Drive the supplier approval and management process by
    •  Identifying and maintaining direct contact with suppliers
    •  Visiting facilities as a team member to conduct supplier assessments with respect to business practices, quality of operations, opportunities for continuous improvement
    •  Supporting resolution of quality, warranty and service issues with suppliers
    •  Execute continuing total cost reduction programs (payment term, supplier stocking programs, and quality performance improvements)
    •  Maintaining ongoing supplier performance data for periodic internal/external review
    •  Directing regular supplier performance reviews and development of improvement plans
  •  Maintain required records such as quotes and price lists, blanket order file, supplier correspondence, contracts, and purchasing metric dashboards
    •  Review bid proposals or quotes and make recommendations
    •  Work with the Legal Dept to draft contractual terms and conditions to insure business needs are met and with consideration of business law and intellectual property
  •  Review engineering notifications and drawings covering areas of responsibilities. Interact with category teams, supplier quality, materials management, engineering and operations

Skills/Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Purchasing, Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering or applicable field, WITH a minimum two years of purchasing or sourcing experience.
  •  Strong Excel skills
  •  SAP experience is preferred
  •  Exposure to overseas, international trade compliance is preferred.
  •  Procurement experience  with a  manufacturing company is preferred
  •  Basic ability to be able to read and understand the engineering drawings and translate/communicate with the vendor is preferred
