Position: Senior Accountant

Location: 2440 Sheridan Drive, Tonawanda, NY 14217

Schedule: M-F (8 hour shift, Days)

Compensation: $70-80K

What We Are Looking For

The Senior Accountant is the lead for performing complex accounting activities to record, analyze and monitor financial information. The Senior Accountant prepares financial reports in a manner that ensures accuracy and compliance with company accounting policies. This position acts as the lead resource for accounting and general administrative staff and is responsible for a broad array of accounting duties.

What You Will Do

  • Oversee and prepare journal entries for entry into the general ledger system on a monthly basis by collecting necessary data, analyzing and/or allocating costs and preparing audit train support for the journal entries.
  • Analyze general ledger accounts for accuracy; analyzes accrual accounts to ensure proper accruals.
  • Prepare and distribute financial analyses and reports.
  • Assist with preparing and monitoring budget.
  • Collect and analyze financial data and prepare monthly combined financial statements and reports. Perform additional analysis for explanatory text required for reports and statement.
  • Participate in monthly financial meetings for discussion and review of monthly financial reports.
  • Prepare revenue projections and forecasting expenditure.
  • Provide guidance and training to Accounting personnel for proper internal and external financial accounting procedures and their application.
  • Assists with the preparation of annual budgets, updates, and strategic plans assigned areas.
  • Assist with annual audit preparations and investigate and resolve audit findings, account discrepancies, and issues of non-compliance.
  • Assist with the maintenance and application of internal controls.
  • Contribute to the development of new or amended accounting systems, programs, and procedures.
  • Ability to train personnel on systems and processes.

What You Will Need
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, or related field, CPA preferred.
  • 5 years of accounting experience.
  • Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles
  • Must have a strong work ethic; do what is required to meet deadlines.
  • Must be team-oriented and able to fulfill and adapt to the requests of our internal and external customers.
  • Ability to interface and communicate ideas effectively with people at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks demanding of immediate attention, and to juggle multiple, on-going, concurrent responsibilities.
  • Ability to work efficiently and maximize productivity.
  • Commitment to integrity and ethical behavior and the proven ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Expertise in the following computer programs: MS Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Outlook.

Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds at times
