Shift: Monday - Friday 5am-3pm
Pay: $30.00 an hour
Martin Marietta is currently looking for a motivated self-starter to fill our Safety Lead role for our underground mine in Ames, Iowa. The safety lead is responsible for assisting safety and plant personnel with the daily safety and health tasks required to support plant operations compliance. This includes safety and health administration, training, auditing and monitoring for location safety and health compliance.

This job operates 90% of the time in mining locations to include quarries, mines and remote offices. 10% of the time will be in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. This position may require long hours and weekend work.
Physical Demands
Physical requirements include the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds from ground to waist, visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand eye coordination, manual dexterity, repetitive motion, standing, sitting (must be able to sit for extended periods of time up to 8 hours), walking, climbing stairs, bending and stooping, and the ability to drive.
Travel
Travel will be required at times primarily within the Division and assigned District. Out of area and overnight travel may be required.
Required Education and Experience
- A high school diplomas.
- Previously safety experience
- Previous organization experience
- A degree in occupational health and safety, mining or related field.
- Previous mine safety experience
- MSHA Blue Card (or the ability to obtain it in a reasonable timeframe)
- Be able to communicate in a professional manner across all employee and management positions
- Good presentation skills for formal meetings. Both with hourly and management employees.
- Possess strong skills at prioritizing activities.
- Assertive, can do and persuasive personality.
