Job Description

Volunteers of America, The Homestead at Anoka is looking for a Charge Registered Nurse to join its team. The RN Supervisor role is to utilize the nursing process in planning and providing direct care to residents as assigned. As a leader in the organization, the RN Supervisor will be the person "in charge" according to the Nurse Practice Act.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides Leadership and Direction on assigned units with all staff.
  • Resident Care Functions which include medication, treatments and follow nursing protocols.
  • Responsible for holding staff accountable for correctly following policies and procedures as outlined in the employee handbook and nursing job descriptions.
  • Responsibile for Staffing when the Staffing Coordinator is not present.
  • Immediately reports any suspected abuse or neglect per company policy.
  • Charting, Documentation and Assessment Functions.
  • Completes employee evaluations in a timely manner as directed.
  • Assists with disciplinary actions as assigned by the Director of Nursing.
  • Coordinates and conducts routine nursing staff meetings on assigned unit.
  • On-call as delegated by the Director of Nursing Services.
  • Supervision of meal service to ensure quality of life with regards to the dining experience.

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION INCLUDE:
  1. Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing program with a current license as a Registered Nurse in the state of employment.
  2. Minimum of two (2) years of nursing experience, with a combination of long-term care dementia care or acute care. Home care experience preferred.
  3. Previous supervisory/management experience in a health care setting.
  4. Effective written and oral communication skills and good interpersonal skills.
  5. Organizational, prioritization and time management skills.
  6. Knowledge of Home Health regulatory and reimbursement requirements.
  7. Possess adequate strength, coordination, dexterity and endurance to meet the strenuous physical demands of such resident care responsibilities as lifting and moving patients.
  8. Ability to utilize computers and other electronic devices for tasks such as timekeeping, in-servicing and documentation.
